What We Think

Presents Vs. Presence

As we approach the holiday season, we are seeing massive demand for gifts. Due to supply chain complications from the pandemic, we are seeing barge after barge lining up in our waters, causing a backlog in getting supplies and merchandise. Some are essentials; some are luxuries; and many are our holiday gifts we give to one another. For years we have been hooked on the next-day delivery models that have exacerbated this supply and demand. We're being told to order early, as we may not get what we want, that toys are going to be scarce, and the same for our everyday needs.

This holiday season we should focus on presence rather than presents. So what if we don’t get all the things we want! So what if gifts are light this year!

Let’s make it about being together. Whether it’s friends or family—make yourself the gift! Be happy with what we have; be happy for health; be happy for those that you love and those that love you.

Give of yourself! That’s the world I want to live in. Share your love. Share a meal. Live and love in the present.

Be safe
Be thankful.
Be the gift.

Happy holidays.
