What We Think

The Engaged Heart

Today I heard a sportscaster say when his team acquired a player, “this could be a good deal for the team if the player has an engaged heart.”

It got me thinking. If you are working, pursuing work, or looking to hire someone, embody or seek out "an engaged heart." My interpretation of this is someone whose work ethic, passion, and drive is completely connected to their heart.

In past blog posts, I have said that "work is work." Well, I will reboot my assertion by saying "work is your engaged heart at work." Your work should beam with pride and personal commitment. If you lose that feeling, it’s time to move on, and find a place you can attach your engaged heart to.

And if you're hiring: rather than the most talented candidate, consider the most engaged heart, because that person will “grind” for you and your company. You will both reap from that commitment.

Stay healthy and safe.
